Painting a Picture With Words…

Published by kago71 under Uncategorized Edit This

Music in general is all about painting a picture with words.  This is why they call rappers, singers, and rockers, artists.  Their art is painting visual pictures that match the mood of the music in their backgrounds….

In Hip-Hop, there have been some great artists!  Nowadays they aren’t as frequent as they used to be.  Rappers are too concerned nowadays with showing their strengths instead of their insecurities.  But there are still some great creative artists in the rap game right now.

Kanye West is a very notable artist and narrarator in his music.  NaS is a another great narrarator and story teller in the world of Hip-Hop!  Slick Rick was one.  Snoop Dogg is great.

This is really what I love about music…The ability to be able to put on some headphones, close your eyes and get lost in the world of whatever is on your mp3 player!

Who Really is The Best Rapper of All??

Published by kago71 under Uncategorized Edit This

This has been a heated topic of discussion for years.  There are only a few ”BEST” MC’s that have ever blessed the mic.  Every hip hop fan is really bias about this one, but I challenge every hip hop fan’s opinion in this blog.

First of all, there are 5 rappers that the hip hop community has been calling “The Best Ever” and truly only One of them should really be called that, and anyone who disagrees needs to add a 6th rapper in there because he is better than 3 of the 5.

The rap artists I’m talking about are: 2 Pac, B.I.G., Jay-Z, KRS-One, and Lil Wayne.

Ok, first of all, Lil Wayne is a pion compared to ANY of the other 4, so his name shouldn’t ever be on this list.  Second, KRS-One is absolutely one of the best ever, and we could argue that he diserves to be on the list more that Jay-Z, but he is no B.I.G. or 2 Pac, so he’s gotta go too!  Third, Jay-Z is VERY talented and actually is the leader of today’s Hip Hop generation, but he isn’t on 2 Pac’s or B.I.G.’s level by any means, so the Jiggaman must be erased.

Now, the big debate comes with 2 Pac & B.I.G.  I know….that the only reason that EVERYBODY puts these two together is because they were Generals in rap in a time that Hip Hop Gangster sh**  was becoming really serious.  That whole so called “Eastcoast - Westcoast Beef”  which was only Real to a certain extent, marks the end of the 2 Pac and Biggie era.

I LOVE B.I.G.!  So don’t get what I’m about to say twisted……..

The ONLY reason that the rap world considers B.I.G. one of the best ever is because, right after he and 2 Pac passed away, P. Diddy, who was B.I.G.’s best friend TOOK OVER Hip Hop, and every time we saw him, whether it was in an interview or in a song, He was saying, “Notorious B.I.G. is the best rapper ever!” Now, not only did P. Diddy take over hip hop, New York City, which is where B.I.G. was from, took back control of hip hop.  So EVERY New York rapper was praising Biggie as the best rapper ever, to the point that most people actually started believing it.

Now that brings up another debate because before B.I.G. passed away, he was calling himself a “rap phenomenon,” the “king of NY,” and the “illest.” Jay-Z does the same!  He calls himself, “The god-MC,” also saying things like, “If I ain’t better than B.I.G., I’m the closest one” and “Lil Wayne lately has also been saying things like, “I’m the best rapper alive” and “Next time you mention Pac, Biggie, or Jay-Z don’t forget Weezy baby.”

Ok…..so since when has a king been able to crown himself??  When in history has that EVER happened where a war didn’t occur?

I thought so……

Basically I said all that to say this…..2 Pac is the Best Rapper of All Time!  Based simply off the fact that everyone considers him one of the Best, but he NEVER had to say it himself.  In fact, he even humbly in an interview spoke on how he’s not trying to say he is the best rapper or anything, but he is the Realest one out there!  Also, if we want to take it a step further, lets compare his “content” to any of the other rap artists on that listOne of his albums, could beat any of their entire collections as far as meaning or content is concerned.  He wasn’t just recording to spit lyrics.  The man had a real message behind his rhymes.

Now, if you still disagree, which I’m sure many of you do, you are entitled to your own opinion, so it’s all good, but I just wanted to get some facts out there regarding this issue.

For those of you who put Jay-Z, and….Lil Wayne, who isn’t even close at this point in his career, on this list….You need to include Eminem up in there too!!  Eminem is waaaaay better than Lil Wayne, and really, he is better than Jay-Z too!  Just listen to Renegade man!

The “Golden Years” of Hip Hop

Published by kago71 under Uncategorized Edit This

I was just watching the first BEEF DVD, and have been thinking about the “Golden Years” of Hip-Hop, when Hip-Hop was in its baby stages.  When rappers like KRS-One, Kool Moe Dee, Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, Kool G Rap, and MC Shan were running Hip-Hop.  When we compare those days to these days, it’s crazy how much more competitive the rap game was back then compared to now.

Record executives and A&R people have a lot to do with how diluted the Hip Hop game has become!  Listen to the B.S. on the radio nowadays.Yell  Hip Hop used to be deep.  Now it’s just a bunch of “wannabe” thugs on the radio making songs about dance moves.  Dance Moves?  Since when was it gangster to do the Macarena??  Foot in mouth

Some of you new Hip Hop artists need to get your mind right, and realize that the only rappers who are going platinum these days are the one’s who are respected inside the game and out!  Cool
